Day of Action - Workers on Strike

On Wednesday the 31st August 2022 members of the UK’s Communication Workers Union, from Royal Mail, BT, Openreach and Parcelforce walked out on strike, in what the CWU described as their biggest ever action.

The industrial action centres around calls for fairness of pay and working conditions in a ‘New Deal for Workers’, a campaign led by the trade unions and their members. It calls for a new social settlement for working people of Britain and to develop rights and provision for those same workers.

This selection of images was made of the protest outside the Newbury main postal sorting office. My interst was sparked through a discussion I had on my doorstep with the lovely chap who delivers our post. My point in making the story is simply to provide a visual document of these people at this time and place.
