BSide Barbers- By Appointment Only

On the corner of Newtown Road and Pound Street in Newbury sits a small and eclectic group of businesses. The estate agent, dog groomers, accountancy firm, Chinese take-away and the BSide Barbers.

Sat on a fairly busy junction and just off the hump-back-bridge above the railway line which bisects Newbury, it’s more of a place you pass by or occasionally glance at whilst waiting for the traffic lights to change.

BSide Barbers is something different in Newbury, an independent barber’s shop and vinyl record store, created and owned by Alex Smith and jointly operated by Nathan Jerome (who left at the end of 2022)

In a town where barber’s shops are as frequent and ubiquitous as the coffee shop, it’s so refreshing to come across one that is truly different and interesting. These two guys are more than just barbers they are artisans, oh and very cool too. The were a joy to meet, get to know and photograph.
